Salary Range:

This compensation range takes into consideration a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate is not adjusted for geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. At One Call, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

JOB SUMMARY:  

The Staff Accountant is responsible for various general ledger and bank account reconciliations variance analysis journal entries expense reporting assisting in month end close process and financial statement preparation as well as special projects as delegated. 

 

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Assists with calculation and preparation of month end quarterly and annual financial and operational reports. 

• Conducts bank reconciliation for various accounts book to bank research any discrepancies and communicate and resolve fraudulent activity with banks.  

• Assists in month-end closing process including preparation and booking of journal entries and distributes month end financial reporting using system generated reports. 

• Prepares general ledger account roll forwards and reconciliations. 

• Processes fixed assets by receiving related AP Invoices entering into the fixed asset system recognizing the asset life expectancy and running the depreciation via fixed asset subsystem and verifying appropriate results. 

• Creates month end journal entries; prepares and enters into General Ledger. 

• Assists with budgets and forecasting. 

• Assists with the preparation of quarterly and annual audits. 

• Assists in special projects and completes other duties as deemed necessary by management. 

 

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education training or work experience 

• Three to five years of relevant experience preferred 

 

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

• Intermediate to advanced level of skill in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel 

• Excellent analytical skills detail oriented and self-motivated 

• Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills 

• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills in a fast paced environment under strict deadlines.   

 

PHYSICAL/EMOTIONAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

• For roles located in office or home settings; this job is primarily sedentary and may involve repetitive motions; the employee is regularly required to sit use hands and fingers speak and hear. 

• The employee is occasionally required to stand walk and lift objects (up to 10lbs weight; up to 4 ft. height). 

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to see things from a close distance and ability to adjust focus 

• The work environment utilizes florescent lighting; noise level is moderate. 

• The emotional demand of the job may cause undue stress from but not limited to moderate/heavy workload.

Staff Accountant I 

Entry level role. Basic skills with moderate level of proficiency. Has general understanding of professional accounting standards requirements and procedures related to the business. Works under close to moderate supervision to ensure accuracy. Consults with senior peers on processes or errors to learn through experience. Typically requires zero to three (0-3) years experience working Accounting experience.  

Staff Accountant II 

Intermediate role. Moderate skills with high level of proficiency. Has complete understanding of professional accounting standards requirements and procedures related to the business. May coach more junior technical staff. Works under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment. May consult with senior peers on more complex issues. Typically possesses three to five (3-5) years working Accounting experience.  

Staff Accountant Senior 

Advanced role. Highly skilled with extensive proficiency. Has expert understanding of professional accounting standards requirements and procedures related to the business. Handles situations which may require adaptation of response or extensive research according to area of risk. May require advanced problem solving. Oversees that the department conforms to accounting standards requirements and procedures and remediates issues in a timely manner. Works on researching multiple projects as the subject matter expert. Coaches and mentors more junior technical staff. Works under minimal supervision on complex issues. Typically possesses five to seven (5-7) years working Accounting experience.
